Virtual World Interoperability Forum discussions on Intellectual Property Rights

The Virtual World Interoperability Forum is trying to get off the ground, but has run into some problems when it comes to IP release. On the one hand, open standards need to be as encumbrance free as possible. On the other hand, IP holders with large IP portfolios are reluctant to commit within a limited amount of time to saying that they won't enforce any of their IP against implementers of a published standard at some future point in time.
